Christian Education
Preschool Sunday School
9:30 am Sunday
Immanuel
offers graded classes for even the smallest member of your family. We
have five classes for our preschoolers (babies, one year-olds, two
year-olds, three year-olds, and four year-olds). Our preschool teachers
work hard to convey the message of God’s love to our children in timely
and creative ways. Even the youngest baby can learn about love,
creation, and family. At Immanuel, we strive to ensure that every child
leaves every Sunday feeling special to God and to her teachers. In this
way, we lay the foundational building blocks for a lifetime of learning
about God’s love.
JourneyKidz
6:00 pm Sunday
5:30 pm Wednesday
As followers of Jesus, we learn early to join him on the journey
that he has planned for each of us. The foundation for this journey
begins in early childhood and extends throughout our lives. JourneyKidz
focuses on teaching children to follow Jesus at an early age. On
Wednesday evenings, we use music education and Bible study to teach
children how Jesus wants us to follow him. On Sunday evenings, we learn
about the books of the Bible and what can be found in each book. Both
nights seek to engage preschoolers and children in learning through a
fun, yet structured, environment. These opportunities complement what
children learn each week in Sunday school.
JourneyKidz is
a program created specifically with Immanuel’s children and families in
mind. In Preschooler JourneyKidz classes, children learn Bible stories
through games, crafts, and stories. Preschoolers learn through play,
and JourneyKidz recognizes that, with our teachers using toys and games
as object lessons for children. Each night, children have the
opportunity to earn stickers by wearing their JourneyKidz t-shirt,
bringing their bible, and recalling information they have learned. When
they have filled their sheet with stickers, they will receive a prize.
Music activities round out the evening where children explore singing,
instruments, and Biblical truth in song.
Children’s Worship
10:45 am Sunday
During worship
on Sunday mornings, children ages 3 years old to 2nd grade are escorted
to a special time of worship developed just for them. Preschoolers are
in a class that reinforces what they are learning in Sunday School.
Music Education
Preschool Choirs
Wednesday during JourneyKidz
During choir
time, children have the opportunity to learn about music and worship as
they play instruments, sing songs, play games, and practice techniques.
Taught by church musicians, preschoolers benefit from their expertise
and learn valuable musical building blocks in a way that encourages them
to express themselves comfortably through the art of music. As they
grow, this will develop into expressions of worship through music.
Preschool choirs have opportunities to lead in worship throughout the
calendar year.
Special Ministries
- Mother’s Bible Study
- At various times throughout the year, mothers meet for a time of
fellowship and Bible study. This provides a great opportunity for
moms to learn about God’s plan for them in their role as a mother.
-
-
Preschool Family Events
- At least
twice a year, Immanuel hosts events specifically tailored to our
preschoolers and their families. These times are fellowship for the
children, as well as for their parents. Past events have included
trips to Disney on Ice, game times, and many other things geared
specifically to preschoolers.
-
- Annual Events
- Easter Egg Hunt
- Each year, Immanuel’s children gather on a Saturday afternoon for
refreshments, games, a visit by the Easter Bunny, and a re-telling of
the Easter story. This fun afternoon ends with an Easter Egg hunt on
the church grounds.
-
- Vacation Bible School
- Every summer Immanuel offers a full VBS program for children.
Through crafts, recreation, story time, and music, children explore
biblical truths as they are rooted in the year’s theme.
Preschoolers benefit from a special rotation geared particularly to
them.
-
-
Preschool Day Camp
- Immanuel
hosts an annual Preschool Day Camp that allows preschoolers the
opportunity to have several days of fun with their friends.
Activities include games, crafts, water play, and other things
tailored specifically to preschoolers’ enjoyment. We look forward to
having you join us next summer!
-
- Apple Picking Trip
- During the fall, children and their families take a trip to a
local apple orchard for an afternoon in God’s creation. We pick
apples, take a tractor ride, and enjoy being together in the crisp
fall air.
-
-
Happy Birthday, Jesus, Party
- During the
Advent season, our preschoolers take one Sunday School session to have
a birthday party for Jesus. We have cake, ice cream, candles and
birthday games. Likewise, we will celebrate the birth and life of
Jesus, our Savior and Lord.
-
- Family Fun Night
- Once a year, Immanuel provides the opportunity for families to
enjoy a night together. Past activities have included board games, a
visit by a clown, snowball fights, and more. Look for further
announcements for dates for this fun evening!
PRESCHOOL MINISTRY MISSION STATEMENT:
We at Immanuel Baptist Church believe the early years are indeed
crucial in the life of a child. All who work with your child are
concerned about the whole child and strive to provide him/her growth
opportunities in every area of life--physical, intellectual, social,
emotional, and spiritual living.
Children learn naturally
through imitation a child learns to do what
he sees and hears others do.
through curiosity a child is motivated to discover people
and the world around her.
through repetition a child develops and refines skills.
through doing a child learns independence by actually doing
things for himself.
through play a child learns to interpret how she feels and
thinks.
through relationships a child acquires feelings, attitudes,
concepts, and facts.
With this in mind, we teach Bible truths through a variety of
activities such as Bible verses and stories, prayer experiences, music,
and play activities. It is our goal that every time a child comes to
church, he or she will be adequately cared for and have a happy learning
and growth experience.
