Senior Adult Day & Lunch

On Sunday, May 4, we will celebrate our Senior Adults.  The morning worship service will focus on Senior Adults and following the service there will be a catered lunch in the Fellowship Hall for our seniors and their invited guest, family member, or church family member.  Today is the last day to sign-up.

  

Gospel Sing At Vespers

Senior Adult Sunday will conclude with a gospel sing at 6 p.m. featuring Steve’s friends from central Kentucky.  You’ll enjoy some of your toe-tappin’ favorites along with some new songs.  Plus there will be three generations (including a 10 year old mandolin prodigy) featured in a Bluegrass-gospel set.  All ages will enjoy this time of celebrating our faith.

  

Graduate Recognition

In the coming weeks, high schools, technical schools, colleges and universities will be awarding degrees, which will mark an important transition in the life of many young people.  We as a congregation wish to honor all of our graduating students during this special time.  If you or your spouse, son, or daughter is graduating, please contact the church office and provide a picture for use in the Clarion by Sunday, May 4.  We will also honor our graduates in worship on Sunday, May 18.  Please pray for our graduates as many face transitions and a new chapter in their lives. 

  

Children’s Trivia Nights in May

How many days and nights did it rain while Noah was in the ark?  Come find out!  Not only do children need to hear the Bible stories and learn Bible truths, they also need to retain these for future use.  Games are a great way to do this!  Sunday night JourneyKidz in May is presenting Trivia Nights!  On May 4 and May 18 we will play Bible Trivia games and Trivia kings and queens will be crowned!  Prizes will be awarded for various trivia knowledge!  Come see what it is all about!  6:00 p.m. both nights!  Classes for younger JourneyKidz are still going so don’t miss it!

  

Swim Suit Collection

In addition to the great collection of tennis shoes from April, Paducah Parks has requested that we collect swim suits for both boys and girls.  These suits can be new or gently used.  For many children who attend Paducah Parks’ free programs in the summer, they must watch during the swim time because they do not have a suit to wear.  Please join us in allowing these children a chance to play in the water this summer.  We need girls’ sizes and boys’ sizes.

 

VBS Crafts Collection

Vacation Bible School is right around the corner, and it is time to begin collecting some supplies for our craft projects.  Please bring wire coat hangers, frozen juice can lids, 2 liter bottles with caps, and 20 oz. green soda  bottles with caps.   Keep an eye out in the upcoming weeks for other ways you can support VBS this year.

 

Bean Day

Join us Tuesday, May 13 , as the Senior Adults travel to the Nutrition Center in Calvert City for a meal of white beans, cornbread, coleslaw, and cobbler.  We will leave the church at 10:30 a.m.

 

Youth Sunday Night Gatherings

This Sunday we start new monthly gatherings in homes on Sunday nights each month.  Middle School students are invited to join us from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Potter’s home (6300 Turnberry Ln.); High School students will gather at the Hundley’s home (3625 Sherwood Rd.) from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  We’ll have pizza, games, a short devotion, and some time to hang out together.  Join us this Sunday!

 

Summer Camps

We still have spots available for PASSWays Camp June 22-27 at Wingate University in Wingate, NC.  We can also add up to 2 spots for Crosspoint camp only if the camp itself has room.  Contact Chris if you (or any friends) are interested!

  

Summer Mission Trip

The deadline for sign-up for high school students for our youth summer mission trip has been extended one more week to Sunday, May 4.  We’ll be working with the Haven of Rest Ministry in Inez, KY June 14-20.  Information and sign-up sheets for the trip can be found outside the church office; contact Chris if you have any questions.

 

Can You Help The Bazaar?

The Bazaar Committee is looking for the following things:

- We need people to sort and price Trash & Treasure items.  We can train you.

- Only 2 months remain to get your recipes in for the cookbook.  At this point, we do not have enough recipes to print.

- We need people to paint.  You do not have to be experienced at this; we can train you.

- We need your Trash & Treasure items.  Bring them to the room in the fellowship hall.

- We need wooden sleighs/sleds, wooden ironing boards, and rust-free Radio Flyer style wagons to paint.
