Christian Education
Children’s Sunday School
9:30 am Sunday
Immanuel offers graded classes for all children’s ages.  Our teachers work hard to convey the message of Christ to our children in timely and creative ways.  Using materials geared to all learning styles, our teachers create an environment where learning biblical truths is fun and exciting to all types of kids!

JourneyKidz
6:00 pm Sunday
5:30 pm Wednesday
As followers of Jesus, we learn early to join him on the journey that he has planned for each of us.  The foundation for this journey begins in early childhood and extends throughout our lives.  JourneyKidz focuses on teaching children to follow Jesus at an early age.  On Wednesday evenings, we use music education and Bible study to teach children how Jesus wants us to follow him.  On Sunday evenings, we learn about the books of the Bible and what can be found in each book.  Both nights seek to engage preschoolers and children in learning through a fun, yet structured, environment.  These opportunities complement what children learn each week in Sunday school.

JourneyKidz is a program created specifically with Immanuel’s children and families in mind.  Using the Bible Buddies curriculum, children learn Bible stories through games, crafts, and stories.  Children also learn books of the Bible, history, and memory verses.  Each night, children have the opportunity to earn points by wearing their JourneyKidz t-shirt, bringing their bible, and recalling information they have learned.  At the end of the year, children with enough points will be eligible to participate in the Mystery Event.  Music activities round out the evening where children explore theory, singing, instruments, and Biblical truth in song.

Children’s Worship
10:45 am Sunday
During worship on Sunday mornings, children ages 3 years old to 2nd grade are escorted to a special time of worship developed just for them.  Children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade participate in classes that practice worship on an age-appropriate level, using contemporary songs, puppets, and creative storytelling methods.  Preschoolers are in a class that reinforces what they are learning in Sunday School.

Music Education
Children’s Graded Choirs
Wednesday during JourneyKidz
During choir time, children have the opportunity to learn about music and worship as they play instruments, sing songs, play games, and practice techniques.  Taught by church music educators, children benefit from their expertise and learn valuable musical building blocks in a way that encourages children to express themselves comfortably in worship through the art of music.

Chimes & Handbells
5:15 pm Wednesday
Chimes are offered for children in 1st & 2nd grades during the school year.  At the same time, 3rd through 5th graders have the opportunity to play handbells.  By developing this skill, children learn an alternative form of music that prepares them to lead in Sunday morning worship.

All children’s music programs have opportunities to lead in worship throughout the calendar year.

Special Ministries

Mother’s Bible Study
At various times throughout the year, mothers meet for a time of fellowship and Bible study.  This provides a great opportunity for moms to learn about God’s plan for them in their role as a mother.

Fantastic Fridays
3:45—5:45 pm
Occasionally, Immanuel offers an afternoon of activities designed for children who are in Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Through devotions, Bible stories, crafts, and games, children will learn basic Bible truths.  Those children who live outside the city are welcome to join us as soon as possible.

Annual Events
Easter Egg Hunt
Each year, Immanuel’s children gather on a Saturday afternoon for refreshments, games, a visit by the Easter Bunny, and a re-telling of the Easter story.  This fun afternoon ends with an Easter Egg hunt on the church grounds.

Music Camp for Children
Immanuel offers a Summer Music Camp for children each year.  During this time, children learn a musical rooted in biblical truths that helps them to explore well-known stories in a new and creative way.  The musicals often incorporate song, dance, sign language, and other expressive art forms.

Vacation Bible School
Every summer Immanuel offers a full VBS program for children. Through crafts, recreation, story time, and music, children explore biblical truths as they are rooted in the year’s theme.

Summer Day Camp
Summer is a great time to spend a few days with friends!  Every summer, Immanuel has a summer day camp that allows children a safe place to be together and participating  in a fun activity.  In past years we have gone mini-golfing, fishing, played water games, and much more.  We look forward to having you join us next summer!

Apple Picking Trip
During the fall, children and their families take a trip to a local apple orchard for an afternoon in God’s creation.  We pick apples, take a tractor ride, and enjoy being together in the crisp fall air.

Family Fun Night
Once a year, Immanuel provides the opportunity for families to enjoy a night together.  Past activities have included board games, a visit by a clown, snowball fights, and more.  Look for further announcements for dates for this fun evening!

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY MISSION STATEMENT:

We at Immanuel Baptist Church believe the early years are indeed crucial in the life of a child.  All who work with your child are concerned about the whole child and strive to provide him/her growth opportunities in every area of life--physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual living.

Children learn naturally
through imitation a child learns to do what he sees and hears others do.
through curiosity a child is motivated to discover people and the world around her.
through repetition a child develops and refines skills.
through doing a child learns independence by actually doing things for himself.
through play a child learns to interpret how she feels and thinks.
through relationships a child acquires feelings, attitudes, concepts, and facts.

With this in mind, we teach Bible truths through a variety of activities such as Bible verses and stories, prayer experiences, music, and play activities.  It is our goal that every time a child comes to church, he or she will be adequately cared for and have a happy learning and growth experience.
